Day by day the development of technology to make the interview technique in quantitative research more quickly and efficiently.
In general, interview techniques in quantitative research is divided into several techniques, namely face-to-face interviews, mail surveys, and Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI).
CATI is a phone survey technique in which the interviewer follows a script provided by a software application. It is a structured system of data collection by telephone that speeds up the collection and editing of the data in timely and accurate data. It can be used in B2B services and corporate sales as well as consumer level. Most of the objective is for customer satisfaction.
The interview techniques in our surveys commonly use face-to-face interview. The interviews can be done at home, in the office, or at certain locations which have been agreed by the interviwer and respondent.
As part of our development of services, in 2015 we try to conduct a syndicated study using the CATI method. The theme of the study is “The Impact and cause of traffic jammed”, with the total sample was 121 respondents aged 18 years or older. The data collection using this method we only need 4 days interview.
From the results of the study showed that the majority (almost 50%) of road users in Jakarta is the workers who live outside Jakarta. They are from Bodetabek (Bogor, Jakarta, Depok and Bekasi) with distance of their residence and workplace more than 25 km.
Most of workers both from Jakarta and outside Jakarta majority use private vehicles to go to work. This is supported by data from Gaikindo show that in 2015, the number of car sold reach 1.5 million units. This is the main cause of congestion in Jakarta, as the increase of number and mobility of private vehicles do not supported by the capacity of the road.
Experiencing macet is part of everyday routine in Jakarta, and Jakartans severe more than Bodetabekers. Based on the experiences of the workers who own private vehicles, the impact of congestion generally has led the duration way to work increase over 90 minutes.
Meanwhile, according to the users of public transport, they prefer to use public transport because of faster and cheaper. Most of the public transport users chose to use comfort Commuter Line and buses. While the taxi and ojeg are increasingly used ."Gojek" phenomenon in Jabodetabek, it’s the current answer for faster and cheaper transport.
In all, traffic congestion or macet gives impact to many aspects. It’s impact to iincrease house hold expense (90%). As a result, they need to reduce house hold expenses portion, such as entertainment /holiday/ vacation, change house hold menu, personal saving, and daily groceries.
